Max Ernst
Max Ernst (2 April 1891 – 1 April 1976) was a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and poet. A prolific artist, Ernst was a primary pioneer of the Dada movement and Surrealism. Ernst came in 1891 in the world in Brühl, a suburb of Cologne. He began in 1910 with the studies philosophy, art history and psychology at the University in Bonn, but he stopped quickly to his attention fully on art. In 1912 he had his first exhibition. In 1914, he traveled to the Montparnasse district of Paris where artists from around the world came together. There he learned Guillaume Apollinaire, Robert Delaunay and Hans Arp. When later that year the first world war broke out, had to Ernst in the German army. In 1918 he married the art historian Luise Straus.
